In a stellar display of self-discipline and grit, 26‑year‑old Shreyans Gomes from Udupi has clinched an impressive 372nd rank in the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2024–25, the final results for which were released on April 22, 2025. What truly sets his story apart is that he achieved this in his third attempt, relying exclusively on online resources and self-study—no physical coaching classes involved.

A graduate of RV College of Engineering, Bengaluru, and originally hailing from Murudeshwar in Uttara Kannada, Shreyans balanced resilience and strategy: after clearing the prelims in his first attempt and falling short in the Mains, he persisted, only to be halted at the prelims in his second, before finally conquering all three stages in the third. His proud parents—his father a Konkan Railway station master and his homemaker mother—alongside his brother, celebrated his victory, which has resonated across coastal Karnataka. Shreyans urges aspirants from all backgrounds to nix overthinking, embrace consistency, and combine hard work with smart planning. His journey stands as a powerful testament to the transformative potential of digital learning and unwavering perseverance.
