Udupi Boosts Safety with ‘Shyena Drishti’ CCTV Network Across District

Udupi: In a major push for public safety, Udupi district police have launched the ‘Shyena Drishti’ CCTV surveillance project, covering city, rural, and border areas. Inaugurating the control centre at the Udupi service bus stand, Minister for Women and Child Development and Udupi district in-charge, Lakshmi Hebbalkar, lauded the initiative as a crucial step in preventing untoward incidents. The project will see 621 night vision cameras installed at 207 junctions, along with 20 automatic number plate readers on 10 district border roads. Fully funded by the Udupi Chamber of Commerce and Industry at a cost of ₹2.5–₹3 crore, the minister expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chamber for its contribution to making Udupi a safer place.
