Mangaluru, May 2: In the aftermath of the brutal murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty in Bajpe, authorities have clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC across Mangaluru city from 6 am on May 2 to 6 am on May 6. The move, aimed at preventing potential unrest, comes as tensions simmer in the region. Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan has extended similar restrictions across Dakshina Kannada district until May 5 to ensure peace and public safety.

Responding to the incident, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has called for a bandh in Mangaluru on May 2, from 6 am to 6 pm, demanding justice for the slain activist. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) R Hithendra has reached the city to review the situation and oversee heightened security measures. Police have ramped up surveillance in sensitive zones, with reinforcements deployed across key areas to avert any untoward incidents amid growing public outrage.
