Mangaluru: In a major breakthrough in the high-profile murder case of Hindu activist and BJP Yuva Morcha member Praveen Nettaru, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Abdul Rahiman, one of the key absconding accused, at Kannur International Airport. Rahiman, who had been hiding in Qatar to evade arrest, was apprehended upon his arrival in Kerala on Friday. The NIA had previously issued a reward for information leading to his capture, along with five other fugitives.

His arrest marks a crucial step in the ongoing probe, which has already seen a chargesheet filed against 28 individuals. Investigations have revealed that the murder was part of a larger conspiracy hatched by senior operatives of the now-banned Popular Front of India (PFI). Praveen Nettaru’s brutal killing on July 26, 2022, in Bellare village of Sullia taluk had triggered massive protests and public outrage across coastal Karnataka.
