Mangaluru: A vigilant parent’s complaint has led to a major drug bust in Mangaluru, shedding light on the crucial role of community participation in combating the drug menace. City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy revealed that a single complaint from a concerned couple about their son’s drug addiction prompted the formation of a special investigation team.
The inquiry led to the arrest of five individuals attempting to sell ganja in small packets, with nearly 6 kilograms of the substance seized. The accused were reportedly targeting students and working professionals. “One complaint helped us prevent drugs from reaching 200 people. If 100 citizens come forward, we can eradicate this menace entirely,” the commissioner asserted.
He further assured that addicts will be treated and rehabilitated, while peddlers will face strict legal consequences. The police have urged citizens to come forward with credible information to help build a drug-free Mangaluru.
