Sigandoor Bridge Set to Become India’s 2nd Largest Cable-Stayed Bridge, Inauguration on July 14

Shivamogga: India is poised to celebrate a significant infrastructural milestone with the upcoming inauguration of the Sigandoor Bridge, set to become the country’s second largest cable-stayed bridge. Scheduled for dedication to the nation on July 14, the bridge, located in Sagar Taluk, connects Holebagilu and Kalasa Halli and has been constructed at a cost of ₹473 crore. The engineering marvel, credited to the tireless efforts of former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, MP BY Raghavendra. This will be inaugurated by Gadkari alongside Union Minister Pralhad Joshi.


A proposal has been submitted to name the bridge “Shri Sigandoor Chowdeshwari Bridge” in honor of the revered local deity. Spanning a river with its striking cable-stayed design, the bridge is expected to boost tourism and enhance connectivity for devotees visiting the Sigandoor Chowdeshwari Temple, while reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of rapid infrastructure development in the region, with over ₹20,000 crore worth of projects underway in the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency.
