Sand Extraction to Begin Soon in Six Non-CRZ Blocks of Dakshina Kannada: Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao

Mangaluru: Sand extraction is set to commence shortly in six identified sand blocks located in the non-Coastal Regulatory Zone (non-CRZ) areas of Dakshina Kannada district, announced District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Wednesday. Addressing reporters after a review meeting with district officials, the minister stated that the District Sand Monitoring Committee had approved six out of 11 identified blocks for sand mining, and tenders have already been floated for these. He further informed that the tendering process for the remaining five blocks will begin soon. “I have instructed officials to expedite the procedures,” Mr. Rao said, adding that efforts are also underway to identify more viable sand blocks in the non-CRZ areas to meet the region’s construction needs.
