Sri Lanka extends its sincere gratitude to the Govt of India

India's Operation Sindhu, an evacuation effort launched on June 21, 2025, to rescue Sri Lankan nationals from Iran alongside Indian citizens, prompted by escalating Israel-Iran tensions, including recent Israeli strikes on Iran's Arak reactor.

This cooperation reflects a strategic partnership, with India providing $48 billion in foreign aid to over 65 countries since 2000, including significant support to Sri Lanka.

The evacuation aligns with India's "Neighbourhood First" policy, evidenced by historical interventions like the 2021 MV XPress Pearl rescue, and counters narratives of regional rivalry by demonstrating practical solidarity amidst geopolitical instability.
