New Delhi: First-time MLA Rekha Gupta is set to become the Chief Minister of Delhi, marking a historic moment as she becomes the fourth woman to hold the top post in the national capital. Gupta, along with six other members of her cabinet, met Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena at Raj Niwas late Wednesday to formally stake a claim to form the government. BJP sources confirmed that New Delhi MLA Parvesh Verma has been named as the Deputy Chief Minister, while Rohini MLA Vijender Gupta has been appointed as the Speaker of the Delhi Assembly. The development comes after the BJP’s landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, where the party secured a commanding 44 out of 70 seats, ending its 27-year-long wait to return to power in the city.

With the BJP reclaiming Delhi, all eyes are now on the new administration's roadmap for governance. The swearing-in ceremony for Chief Minister-designate Rekha Gupta is scheduled for February 20 at Ramlila Maidan, a venue known for its political significance. Party leaders and supporters are expected to gather in large numbers to witness the oath-taking event. The BJP's return to power in Delhi signals a shift in the city’s political landscape, with the new leadership promising a focus on infrastructure, governance, and public welfare initiatives.
