In a significant announcement, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah declared that this year’s iconic Mysuru Dasara celebrations will be extended to 11 days, beginning on September 22 and concluding on October 2, aligning with Gandhi Jayanti. The decision was made during a high-level meeting at Vidhana Soudha, where the CM emphasized that the festivities should uphold cultural traditions while avoiding unnecessary extravagance.

This year’s Dasara will highlight the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi through themed tableaux, in view of Vijayadashami coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti. Siddaramaiah urged officials to creatively showcase government welfare schemes and public-friendly initiatives in the celebrations. With expectations of over a million attendees, including international tourists, authorities are set to implement strict crowd control and security measures, including reduced seating near the Mysore Palace and increased deployment of people-friendly police.

The government is also expected to allocate a sufficient budget for the celebrations, ensuring a balance between grandeur and responsible spending.
