New Delhi: Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta brought the attention of Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to key tourism-related matters during a supplementary question session in Parliament today. He highlighted the need for prioritizing the development of prominent temples in the region under the PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme. The proposal for the Uppinangady Sri Sahasralingeshwara Temple, Puttur Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple, and Todikana Sri Mallikarjuna Temple has already been submitted, and he sought updates on its progress.

MP Captain Brijesh further questioned the government on steps being taken to include Mangaluru and coastal Karnataka’s heritage-rich temples under the PRASAD and Swadesh Darshan schemes. He emphasized the importance of leveraging digital media and multimedia platforms to showcase these temples and cultural sites globally. Highlighting Mangaluru’s rich historical and spiritual significance, he urged for initiatives that would promote temple tourism at an international level and attract more visitors to the region.
