Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the record-breaking eighth budget for the 2025-26 financial year, aiming to fuel India’s development and reinforce its global economic standing. The budget introduces transformative measures, including a major tax relief for individuals earning up to ₹12 lakh annually, offering significant financial respite to the middle class. Additionally, price reductions on essential commodities such as cancer medicines, electric vehicles, mobile phones, LED TVs, leather products, and indigenous textiles have been welcomed as a much-needed relief for common citizens. Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath praised the budget as truly inclusive, highlighting the ₹20 crore credit support for small and medium enterprises, special loans up to ₹2 crore for SC/ST women entrepreneurs, financial assistance for street vendors, and dedicated schemes for farmers, women, youth, and senior citizens.

Despite the Congress and its allies voicing strong opposition and criticisms, the public response has been overwhelmingly positive, indicating widespread approval of the government’s initiatives. Citizens appear to recognize the far-reaching benefits of this budget, dismissing political negativity and focusing on the tangible economic support extended across multiple sectors. With its comprehensive approach, the Modi government’s budget has been lauded as a progressive step towards a stronger and more self-reliant India.
