Mangaluru North MLA Dr. Bharath Shetty Y. has strongly criticized the Karnataka state budget, accusing the Congress-led government of misleading the people with a "bogus budget." Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he stated that, as expected, the "corrupt government" had once again attempted to deceive the public. He alleged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had presented an anti-constitutional budget that disregards the principles laid down by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

MLA Dr. Shetty further claimed that the budget was designed to appease the Muslim community through religion-based reservations, which he called a direct violation of constitutional values. His remarks have added fuel to the ongoing political debate in the state, with the opposition BJP strongly opposing what they see as a divisive and discriminatory financial policy.

The Congress government, on the other hand, maintains that its policies are aimed at social justice and inclusive development.
