Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has clarified the government’s stance on the Dharmasthala case following the arrest of the complainant, stressing that the state is committed to justice and not political agendas. He asserted that the government stands neither for nor against Dharmasthala but is determined to ensure fairness, emphasizing that religion should not be politicized.
Shivakumar noted that the family of the alleged victims had welcomed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s decision to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT), while religious leaders too supported the move. Reaffirming the government’s resolve, he said both the Chief Minister and Home Minister had made it clear in the Assembly and the CLP meeting that action would be taken against whoever is found guilty. “I have always had faith in the investigation. Action should be taken against those who did wrong. I am not for anyone; I am for justice,” he stated firmly.
