Mangaluru: In a proactive step to curb the growing drug menace in Dakshina Kannada, District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has called upon educational institutions to work closely with the district administration and police. During a high-level meeting with the police commissioner, superintendent of police, and deputy commissioner, the minister stressed the need for strict implementation of the law and a united front against drug peddling.

“While targeting peddlers, we must also recognize that consumers are often victims in need of help,” he stated. Rao emphasized that teachers play a key role in identifying early warning signs through behavioural changes in students and must alert authorities without delay. He underscored that a coordinated, community-based effort is crucial for effective action against narcotics in the region.
