During his visit to Washington, DC on July 3, 2025, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a pivotal meeting with FBI Director Kash Patel, underscoring deepening collaboration between India and the United States in combating organized crime, drug trafficking and terrorism.

Jaishankar, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), described it as a meeting to “appreciate our strong cooperation in countering organised crime, drug trafficking and terrorism”

This important discussion builds on a series of strategic engagements by Jaishankar, who also met with US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard to review the global security outlook, and with leaders across energy and defence portfolios—including US Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth—to bolster India–US partnerships in energy transformation and military alignment

Jaishankar’s visit aligns with the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in DC, focused on fostering strategic stability in the Indo-Pacific region. His discussions with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio highlighted shared visions for security, critical technologies, connectivity, mobility and energy cooperation.
