Ranya Rao was arrested on March 3 at Kempegowda International Airport while attempting to smuggle 14.2 kg of gold, valued at approximately ₹12.56 crore, concealed on her person. Investigations revealed that she had traveled to Dubai 27 times in the past six months, raising suspicions about her frequent trips. Following her arrest, authorities uncovered possible misuse of official privileges, prompting the Karnataka government to initiate a probe into the alleged involvement of law enforcement personnel in facilitating her activities.
