Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mangaluru City South staged a strong protest in front of the Mangaluru City Corporation on Monday led by MLA Vedavyas Kamath, condemning the Karnataka Congress government's alleged anti-people policies. Protesters highlighted key grievances including the non-issuance of 9/11 e-Khatas under the 94C title deed scheme, delays in old-age, widow, and disability pensions, complications under the e-Khata system, and the cancellation of eligible BPL cards. They also criticized the government for rejecting new ration card applications and restricting land rights even within families in city zones. The BJP claimed that unscientific property guideline value hikes and increased property taxes have burdened citizens.

Further slamming the state government, BJP leaders accused it of not releasing the SFC grant for the past two years, thus stalling the city's development. They pointed out the steep rise in birth/death certificate fees from ₹5 to ₹70, unaffordable stamp duties, failure to release student scholarships and ASHA worker wages, and a steep hike in drinking water charges. In response, the BJP submitted a memorandum to the Governor through the City Corporation Commissioner, demanding immediate intervention. Key BJP leaders including District President Satish Kumpala, General Secretary Premananda Shetty, Mandal President Ramesh Kandettu, and several party office-bearers and supporters were present at the protest.
