MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, Member of Parliament from Dakshina Kannada, has successfully concluded a pivotal diplomatic assignment as part of a high-level all-party parliamentary delegation representing India on a five-nation tour. The mission was aimed at spotlighting India’s unwavering stance against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism on a global stage.

This significant diplomatic outreach aligns with India's extended global strategy following Operation Sindhoora, which reinforces the country's zero-tolerance approach to terrorism and its commitment to strengthening international alliances. The initiative sought to project a united Indian voice across continents, condemning state-sponsored terrorism and securing broader international cooperation.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this campaign aimed to carry India’s united voice against terrorism to the global community and expose Pakistan’s façade as a state sponsor of terror,” said Capt Brijesh Chowta. “It was a matter of great pride to represent not only India but also my home region of Dakshina Kannada on such an important platform. Engaging with diplomats, foreign government officials, and thinkers across Europe offered a rare and enriching administrative experience,” he added.
Reflecting on the mission’s impact, MP Capt Brijesh Chowta noted, “This foreign mission has been both deeply memorable and meaningful. I sincerely thank the Central Government and the Prime Minister for the opportunity to be part of this distinguished delegation.”

Spain Visit: A Symbolic Closure to India’s Diplomatic Campaign
The final leg of the tour in Spain began with a solemn tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Madrid, symbolising India’s peaceful yet firm approach to combating terrorism. The delegation interacted with the Indian diaspora and notable personalities, including Spanish businessman Arturo Fernández Álvarez, a survivor of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, who stood in solidarity with India’s anti-terror campaign.
On the concluding day, high-level meetings were conducted with Antonio Gutiérrez Limones, vice-president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and with members of the Spanish Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee. Discussions also extended to civil society leaders and the Association of Victims of Terrorism, representing over 4,800 terror survivors.
Latvia Engagement: A Historic First
Prior to Spain, the Indian delegation made a landmark visit to Latvia—marking the first such high-level Indian parliamentary mission since India opened its embassy in Riga in July 2024. Delegates met with Inara Murniece, chairperson of the Saeima’s Foreign Affairs Committee, and Ingrida Circene of the India-Latvia Parliamentary Cooperation Group.

The team engaged with senior Latvian officials, representatives from the Baltic Assembly, and Indian diplomats. Meetings were also held with Andžejs Vilums, state secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Andžejs Pildegovics, Latvia’s special envoy for its 2026–27 UN Security Council candidacy.
Global Consensus: Isolating Terrorism and Its Sponsors
The mission, led by MP Kanimozhi, spanned Russia, Slovenia, Greece, Latvia, and Spain. Since its departure from New Delhi on May 22, the delegation received strong affirmations of support for India’s stand against terrorism in all five nations. The recent Pahalgam terror attack was widely condemned, reinforcing the urgency of India’s diplomatic campaign.
India’s persistent diplomatic outreach, championed by leaders like MP Capt Brijesh Chowta; is bearing fruit. Officials say the global response has exceeded expectations, both in moral support and strategic backing, moving India closer to its goal of internationally isolating Pakistan for its continued patronage of terror networks.
