Mangalore regional railway stations have experienced a remarkable revenue uptick following the extension of the Mangaluru–Puttur passenger train to Subrahmanya Road. According to Eastern Railway’s Mysuru division, Subrahmanya Road station collected ₹2.90 crore from January to March, which climbed to ₹3.02 crore between April and June—a gain of ₹12 lakh . Smaller halts like Bajkerel (₹31,570), Kodimbala (₹83,290), Edamangal (₹42,190), Kaniyooru (₹89,050), and Narimogaru (₹17,300) all registered notable increases compared to their January–March earnings

Meanwhile, Puttur’s Kabaka Puttur station surpassed expectations, generating ₹1.22 crore in April–June—an impressive ₹13 lakh rise. Bantwal station alone saw an ₹11.3 lakh boost, collecting ₹76.8 lakh in the most recent quarter . Collectively, all stations between Padil and Subrahmanya Road recorded a total revenue of ₹5.04 crore during April to June .

The figures highlight strong rural patronage following the passenger-train extension. However, local users’ groups argue that infrastructure development must now catch up with increasing demand, particularly at stations like Kaniyooru, which has emerged as a key rural transit point .
